Weakley County's test scores and education opportunities are some of the best in the state. Between the two area TCATs and UT Martin's new innovation and product realization facility, Weakley County is developing the new generation of skilled workers. TCAT-Paris and TCAT-McKenzie both offer credentials in nursing and production automation technology.
Tennessee is leading the way in education reform by increasing the number of Tennesseans with college degrees or certifications through the Tennessee Promise and Tennessee Reconnect. Our trained workforce is a result of our high performing schools, where the average ACT score of 20.8 ranks above the state average of 19.9. In 2014, Dresden Elementary School won the SCORE (State Collaborative on Reforming Education) Prize. Our college-going rate of 69.2% also ranks above the state average of 60.8%.
Postsecondary options include the large University of Tennessee at Martin campus, with more than 100 undergraduate and graduate degree programs, nearby Bethel University in McKenzie, the Tennessee College of Applied Technology-McKenzie and Tennessee College of Applied Technology-Paris .
