EDU-TOURISM
The University of Tennessee at Martin attracts both alumni and visitors to its athletic events, art scene, rodeo and other events. The UT Martin rodeo team is nationally recognized and has many fans. The popular Soybean Festival, in partnership with UT Martin, welcomes visitors to Martin each year in September.
SHOPPING
Downtown Martin is a fun place to spend the day, strolling through various retail stores, playing in the splash pad or shopping the farmers market. Dresden has a lovely walking trail where visitors can shop the farmers market or walk throughout the whole park system.
ARTS AND CULTURE
Weakley County has an active and growing arts community. UT Martin and its Department of Visual and Theatre Arts educates students in its cutting-edge arts facility and provides cultural opportunities for the residents of the area. The Weakley County Arts and Humanities Council promotes arts and culture in the county.
OUTDOOR RECREATION
Weakley County offers all kinds of outdoor exploring opportunities, from short strolls in the park to all-day affairs outside. Big Cypress Tree State Park, named for the the largest bald cypress in the United States that once lived there, has an abundance of wildlife and plantlife, walking trails and picnic areas. The city of Martin offers Virginia Weldon Park and Martin Recreation Complex. In Dresden residents can enjoy the Dredsen City Park.
